Now THAT was a weekend!

I really am lucky to know as many awesome folks as I do... and I'm even luckier because I got to see so many of them in a single weekend!

How many people can say that they've got a good friend who happens to be a professional hypnotist and magician? My guess would be not many, but I'm fortunate enough not to fall into the majority with this one. My good friend Kevin Hurley happens to tour the world, escaping from straitjackets and pulling dollar bills from lemons and hypnotizing crowds into behaving like exotic animals. He came to town on Thursday; we hung out and ate chimichangas. It was fun.

Friday night, part one: I became the *ahem* celebrity. That's right: my book signing was a success! Timbrel was the hostess with the mostess at Lark; I couldn't believe how many people showed up! My friends came out, my neighbors came out, my coworkers came out, my parents' friends came out... COMPLETE STRANGERS CAME OUT! It was nothing short of fantastic and then I went to the Garryowen with my friends, where we saw the most incredible band!

Friday night, part two: If you are a fan of Gogol Bordello (and who isn't, right? what's not to like?) then you absolutely must check out Bella's Bartok. And, hey. You know what? If you're not a fan of Gogol Bordello, then you absolutely must check out Bella's Bartok. Not only do the boys from Massachusetts put on a mean show, but they also know how to make a mean quiche. Onions, peppers, mushrooms, and plenty of cheese... I can't say enough nice things about their music or their personalities or their abilities in the kitchen. Plus, they like cats! Everyone knows that a band who likes cats is better than a band who doesn't like cats. That's just a fact of life.

Oh, oh, oh! And then there was Sunday! What happened on Sunday, you ask? Well, let me just tell you. On Sunday, a Canadian book blogger posted a review of Just Whistle on her site! And it was about as positive as they come!

It was such a fun weekend.

And now I'd like to pay it forward...

Check out Kevin Hurley here, check out Timbrel and her shop called Lark here, check out Bella's Bartok here, and check out Reading Shy with Aly here if you want to read what she had to say about my book!
