Free books, Massachusetts musicians, and SNOW!
Author Jeremy Jackson says it best in his novel Life at These Speeds: "Only on paper is February the shortest month. Something in the cruel precision of a month with exactly four weeks lends to the trickery and grind of its wintry sinkhole."
And this year, February has an extra day. *sigh*
To counteract the effects of such a very looooooooong shortest month, I've decided to host a book giveaway on Goodreads. This means that if you enter the contest, you stand a chance of being one of three lucky winners who will receive an autographed copy of Just Whistle. The contest will begin on January 23 and will conclude on the last day of the wintry sinkhole: February 29th.
It's simple to participate. Although you do need to be a member of the Goodreads community, once you're signed up, entry involves the click of a button and nothing more. "Easy peasy," as my friend Theresa would say. And she'd be right.
In other news, I got to see one of my new favorite bands this weekend (Bella's Bartok), and because they are supremely awesome, they gave me a really nice shoutout at their show and encouraged everyone in the crowd to read Just Whistle. They also made deeeeeeeelicious French toast for breakfast (turns out, Amory is a sort of kitchen magician) and brought general hilarity to my home. If you've never listened to their music before, then you are doing yourself a disservice because Bella's Bartok really knows how to rock a person's socks. In fact, Chris rocks his own socks so hard that they always seem to have holes in them!
Anyway......
In addition to all that other fun stuff, IT'S CURRENTLY SNOWING! And adding snow showers to an already-stellar weekend is kind of like adding extra cheese to an already-perfect pizza. It just makes it better, you know?
