Long Time, No Write

I haven't written a blog for a while.

Truthfully, the state of the world has had me in a bit of a funk... what with democracy being on the brink of its demise and all that. But I recently took some time away from work and that's helped a lot. I finished writing a Christmas novel I've been working on (it's called About Damn Time and will be released in November 2025, most likely) and I've been editing a young adult novel that I'm hoping to release in the very near future. Stay tuned!

I also have some cool events coming up!

I have been asked to speak about Dog-Eared Life at an upcoming PFLAG meeting. For those who may not know, PFLAG is a LGBTQ+ advocacy organization, and when one of its members learned of my character Henri Jones, I received an invitation to talk about my writing process and the fictional folks who live in my head. Do you have any idea how much I love talking about my writing process and the characters who keep me company every minute of every day? I can't think of anything I love to talk about more!

Here's something else: There is a book club meeting at Bantam Coffee Roasters on Wednesday, April 22, at 6:00PM. We will be talking about Like A Flip Turn, which is the first novel I ever published AND the first novel I had turned into an audiobook. So, if you haven't read it and don't think you can have it read by next Tuesday... maybe you can have it listened to by next Tuesday, eh? Cassandra Alling reads it and does an outstanding job. (I'm actually going to re-listen to it once I finish Flowers in the Attic, which is what's playing right now.)

Lastly, I have a book signing in May that will be happening in Doylestown! My freshman college roommate Aimee lives in Doylestown, so not only am I (hopefully) going to gain some new readers, but I'm also going to be able to catch up with the Aimster! It's been years since we've hung out, but I'm guessing that it'll seem like no time at all has passed -- that's pretty much how it always goes.

For those closer to Philly than Gettysburg, I will be at the Doylestown Bookshop on Saturday, May 10, from 1-3:00 and will have copies of Kick it One More Time and An Illusion of Control for sale.

Oh! That reminds me of something else! Chris is nearly done tweaking the final audio files of An Illusion of Control, so I am really, really, really hoping that we can have it available by the beginning of May. Like me, Chris is insanely artsy. Unlike me, Chris pays no heed to deadlines. BUT, there will be a new Flannel Lobster song accompanying this audiobook's release, and that, my friends, is worth the wait.

I actually have some other cool things to mention, but I'm going to save them for a later blog at a later date since I don't have all the details just yet. Keep checking back for more updates, and when you're not reading my blogs, read Like A Flip Turn so you're ready for Tuesday's meeting at Bantam! Mary and I are going to be so sad if we're the only participants to show up!
